Today is my Grandmother's 100th birthday! I spoke with her this morning--she lives in Germany. She continually admonishes me to "Lob und Dank dem Herrn" (Praise and thank the Lord) and demonstrates the joy and peace of the Lord with every breath. I could talk about her for a long time--her life has been full of trials and triumphs. One of those is that she has outlived her daughter by 49 years--almost 2 times.
Today is also exactly 18 years since my mother went home to heaven. My uncle in Germany told me that it must be a day of mixed feelings for me...and it is. However, I realized today that this day celebrates the most wonderful day in my mother's life--the day she got to be done with the "earthly tent" and go to her "heavenly tent" (2 Cor. 5). She is in the presence of Jesus. No more crying, no more sickness, no more pain, no more struggle. Just delight, peace, light, joy, wonder, and God! So "Lob und Dank dem Herrn!"

Wow Kerstin. I didn't realize that there were so many "birthdays" in these last couple of days. Yours, your grandmothers, and your mom's into heaven. What a time for you. Thanks for being an amazing encouragement to me, and setting such a great example for my family!
