My Birthday

It's my birthday today and it's been a glorious day--why? Because God made me desire to serve and not care so much about being served. He gave me joy in Him. Sure, I struggled with disappointment over my own agenda and expectations. Sure, I was shown great love by family and friends (thank you so much)! But the joy was in the Lord.

Just now I read the following verses in Psalm 37--
(I had to chuckle that God chose this passage just for me today because it is my 37th birthday!)

Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
Psalm 37:5-6

I am excited about this new year of life, whatever it brings, because of the Lord in whom I trust. I love Him and am delighted to serve Him one more year.
